‘Grey’s’ keeps Meredith out of the spotlight

…Feuding, dating, bloody brain surgery keep relationship drama at bay

That was a boring episode. I laughed so hard with Bailey offered an advice to Callie about the “undiscovered country” of lady parts…I thought that was hilarious.

Highlight of this week episode [Oct. 16]…

The dullest part of the episode involved Meredith, who eventually read her mother’s diary

The Izzie/Alex wars: The Meredith Grey house became the Home For Wayward Bickering Malcontents, as Alex and Izzie continued to feud. This week, they were conveniently thrown together at work as well, where trouble escalated after Izzie realized that her patient, Asymmetrical Mouth, was sporting an undiagnosed neurological problem. The minute she stepped away, Alex snaked her by fibbing to Derek that she’d abandoned the case and by taking her spot. Izzie bested him in the end, and later, he finally confessed that he’s been acting like a complete jerk to her only because he’s angry and she’s all he has. Charmer!

Give her a hand:
Cristina was horrified to be pulled from her surgical work and sent to the clinic — until, that is, she wandered into dermatology, where the residents have hand massages and regular schedules. “The hospital has hired someone to rub them, full-time,” she exclaimed. Unfortunately, while she and her friends pondered an easier life handing out lotion, Cristina’s clinic patient deteriorated. Meredith, Izzie, and Cristina all later realized that lives without drama are not for them. (Act surprised.)

Staying on second: Hahn summoned her nerve and asked Callie out, and Callie was delighted — but nervous. She made the dubious decision to share her apprehensions with Bailey, who stared back with a divinely funny “You have got to be kidding me” face. Bailey later took pity on Callie and reluctantly offered some advice about the “undiscovered country” of lady parts, and the navigating thereof. Sometimes funny and sometimes just gross (just as it would be if delivered to a man), Bailey’s speech convinced Callie she wasn’t ready for sex yet, and fortunately, Hahn agreed to keep it to first base — or maybe second.

George of the (professional) jungle: As George nervously awaited test results, he helped Meredith soothe a young patient who was terrified of surgery. George’s idea to take young Surgery Hater to visit a low-stress OR grew complicated when they accidentally walked in on Asymmetrical Mouth’s spectacularly gory brain surgery — complete with painstakingly isolated eyeballs — instead. Surgery Hater, of course, thought this was great, and was disappointed to hear that his own surgery would, comparatively speaking, be “boring.” George passed his intern test, but broke faithful Lexie’s heart by blowing her off to celebrate with Meredith and Izzie.

Snooze button: As always, the dullest part of the episode involved Meredith, who got mad at Derek for stumbling across her mother’s diary and prodding her to read it, then eventually read it anyway, curled up with Cristina at Derek’s old trailer. That’s it, seriously. At least this time, it didn’t take some patient flatlining for her to decide how to manage her personal life.
